Application and characteristics
Punch is widely used in electronics, communications, computers, household appliances, furniture, transportation, (cars, motorcycles, bicycles) hardware parts and other stamping and forming.

According to the driving force
The driving force of slide block can be divided into mechanical type and hydraulic type
(1) Mechanical power press
(2) Hydraulic press
Ordinary sheet metal stamping processing, most of the use of mechanical punch. According to the different liquid used in hydraulic punch press, there are hydraulic punch press and hydraulic punch press. Most of them use hydraulic punch press, while hydraulic punch press is mostly used for giant machinery or special machinery.
Classification according to slider movement mode
According to the movement mode of slide, there are single action punch, multiple action punch and three action punch. Only the single action punch with one slide is the most widely used nowadays. Multiple action punch and three action punch are mainly used in the drawing processing of car body and large processing parts, and the number is very small.
Classification by slider drive mechanism
(1) Crank press
The press using crankshaft mechanism is called Crankshaft Press, Crankshaft Press and most mechanical presses

The reason why crank mechanism is used most is that it is easy to make, the lower end position of stroke can be determined correctly, and the slide movement curve is basically applicable to various kinds of processing. Therefore, this type of stamping is used for punching, bending, stretching, hot forging, warm forging, cold forging and almost all other punch processing.
(2) Crank press
No crankshaft punch, also known as eccentric gear punch, eccentric gear punch. As shown in Table 2, the function of crankshaft punch and eccentric gear punch is better than that of crankshaft punch in terms of shaft rigidity, lubrication, appearance and maintenance, but the disadvantage is the higher price. When the stroke is long, the eccentric gear punch is more advantageous, and when the stroke of the special punching machine is short, the crankshaft punch is better. Therefore, small machines and high-speed punching presses are also the fields of crankshaft punch.
(3) Knuckle press
The toggle mechanism used in the slider drive is called the toggle punch. This kind of punch has the unique slide movement curve that the slide speed near the bottom dead center will become extremely slow (as measured by the crankshaft punch). This kind of punch is suitable for compression processing such as embossing and finishing, and it is widely used in cold forging nowadays.
(4) Friction press
The press which uses friction transmission and screw mechanism in track drive is called friction punch. This kind of punch is most suitable for forging and crushing operations. It can also be used for bending, forming, drawing and other processing. It has multi-purpose function. Because of its low price, it was widely used before the war. Nowadays, it is gradually eliminated due to the following disadvantages: unable to determine the lower end position of the stroke, poor machining accuracy, slow production speed, overload caused by wrong control operation, and skilled technology required in use.
(5) Screw press
The screw mechanism used in the slider driving mechanism is called screw punch (or screw punch).
(6) Rack press
The rack and pinion mechanism used in the slider drive mechanism is called rack punch. Screw punch and rack punch have almost the same characteristics, and their characteristics are roughly the same as those of hydraulic punch. In the past, it was used for pressing bushing, debris and other items, such as extrusion, oil pressing, baling, and cartridge case extrusion (hot extrusion), but now it has been replaced by hydraulic punch, and it is no longer used except in extremely special circumstances.
(7) Link press
The punch with various connecting rod mechanisms on the slider driving mechanism is called connecting rod punch. The purpose of using the connecting rod mechanism is to reduce the processing cycle while keeping the drawing speed within the limit. By reducing the speed change of the drawing process, the speed of the approach stroke from the top dead center to the processing start point and the return stroke from the bottom dead center to the top dead center can be accelerated, so that it has a shorter cycle than the crankshaft punch, so as to improve the productivity. Since ancient times, this kind of punch has been used for the deep drawing of cylindrical container, with narrow table surface, but it has been used for the processing of automobile body panel, with wide table surface.
(8) Cam press
The punch with cam mechanism on the slider driving mechanism is called cam punch. The feature of the press is to make a proper cam shape, so as to easily get the required slide movement curve. But because of the nature of the cam mechanism, it is difficult to convey greater force, so the punch capacity is very small.
